Use of water softening systems only in conjunction with a system separator

In a water softening system, a system separator serves to protect the drinking water network from backflow of softened water or other substances from the system and to ensure the quality of the drinking water. The backflow preventer closes automatically when the pressure in the system changes. This prevents contaminated or altered water from entering the public drinking water network.

Legal information

The water softener is installed either centrally after the municipal water meter and the fine filter, or directly before the consumer or hot water supply in the hard water pipe. During installation, DIN EN 806, DIN EN 1717 and DIN 1988 as well as locally applicable regulations must be observed. A system separator must be installed before the water softening system in particular!
