Product information "NeoDeWa water treatment system 150 l/h – 100-litre tank"

The benefits of NeoDeWa

NeoDeWa from HeylNeomeris is a modular water treatment system specifically designed to supply deionised water for the reprocessing of sterile goods in outpatient facilities.

Adaptability is key: each system is tailored to the specific conditions at the installation site. The design takes into account the existing water quality, the water’s hardness level and the actual water demand.

Similarly, any treatment steps already carried out by the water supplier can be factored into the planning.

The benefits of NeoDeWa:

  • Design tailored to the existing water quality
  • Sizing based on actual water demand
  • Suitable for use with different levels of water hardness
  • Modular design for a configuration tailored to your needs
  • Compact design retained even with customised configurations

The result is a water treatment system tailored to the requirements of your outpatient treatment centre.

Deionised water treatment for outpatient care

Why is deionised water needed?

Fully deionised water – or deionised water for short – plays a key role in the reprocessing of instruments and medical devices.

It is used, amongst other things, to supply RDGs and Steris in instrument reprocessing, as well as in laboratory applications.

During reprocessing, minerals, salts and other undesirable substances are removed from the water. This reduces residues and deposits on instruments and equipment and supports a process that is gentle on materials and hygienically safe.

Typical areas of application for deionised water include:

  • outpatient surgical centres
  • dental practices
  • dermatology clinics
  • endoscopy centres
  • other facilities carrying out instrument reprocessing
Reliably monitoring water quality

Consistently high water quality is particularly important when reprocessing medical devices. For this reason, key water parameters can be continuously monitored.

The focus here is on conductivity and silicate content. Both values provide information about the quality of the treated water and help to prevent residues and deposits.

The NeoDeWa concept

The NeoDeWa water treatment plant combines all the necessary treatment stages into a single modular system.

Pre-filtration, water softening, reverse osmosis, advanced treatment and water quality monitoring all work together as coordinated components.

Depending on the requirements of the specific facility, the system can be individually configured and supplemented with additional components.

Components of the NeoDeWa water treatment system

Depending on the configuration, the system comprises:

  • A system separator to protect the drinking water network
  • Pre-filters and activated carbon filters for pre-treatment
  • Water softener to reduce water hardness
  • Reverse osmosis system, which removes the majority of dissolved substances
  • Permeate tank with a capacity of 100, 200 or 300 litres
  • Pressure boosting station for a reliable supply
  • Two-stage mixed-bed system for further treatment
  • Conductivity measurement to monitor water quality
  • Testomat® 808 SiO₂ for monitoring the silicate content
  • Circulation loop that keeps the water circulating when there is no consumption by users

In addition, the system is optionally available with:

  • Aqua-Stop and drip tray
  • UV system
  • Pyrogen filter
  • Brine pumping system
  • NeoTecMaster
Your benefit: a fully integrated system

With the NeoDeWa VE water treatment system, outpatient facilities do not receive a hodgepodge of individual components, but a system in which every element is perfectly coordinated – all from a single source: HeylNeomeris.

Thanks to its modular design, the system can be adapted to water quality, water demand and the specific requirements of the facility. At the same time, key parameters remain under control and additional functions can be integrated as required.

The result is a compact, tailor-made solution that reliably supplies deionised water in outpatient settings.

NeoDeWa Water Treatment System – Flexible capacity for varying requirements

The NeoDeWa water treatment system is tailored to the deionised water requirements of the respective facility.

Depending on the model, the following capacities are available:

  • 90 litres per hour
  • 150 litres per hour
  • 230 litres per hour
  • 300 litres per hour

The permeate tank is also selected to match the required water volume. If the capacity exceeds 150 litres per hour, the permeate tank and pressure-boosting station are usually placed outside the cabinet system due to their dimensions. The specific configuration depends on the local conditions.

Compact and space-saving

The main priority for the cupboard system was to minimise the space required. A floor area of 1.60 m × 1.00 m is sufficient for both cupboards.

Each cabinet measures 80 cm in width and 60 cm in depth. As the double-leaf doors take up hardly any extra space when opened, the system is also suitable for rooms where space is at a premium.

Robust and designed for daily use

The cabinets are manufactured from sturdy sheet steel and feature a high-quality, durable surface coating.

The NeoDeWa cabinet system thus combines flexible performance, compact dimensions and a robust construction in a solution tailored to the specific application.

Shut-off via a system separator

To ensure that drinking water quality is not compromised, treated water must not flow back into the drinking water supply. A system separator is therefore mandatory. The system comes fitted with a Type BA system separator as standard. It is positioned immediately behind the optionally available Aqua-Stop on the water connection and safely isolates the drinking water mains from the system.

Testomat® 808 SiO₂ silicate analyser

A Testomat® 808 SiO₂ silicate analyser is used for continuous silicate monitoring. This analyser determines the silicate content in the water. This ensures that the limit value of 0.4 mg/l for SiO₂, as recommended by the DGSV and AKI, is reliably adhered to.

Conductivity measurement

The integrated conductivity measurement continuously monitors the range of 0–10 µS/cm at the second mixed-bed stage. A conductivity of < 1 µS/cm is recommended for cleaning, disinfection and sterilisation processes involving medical devices – the system continuously checks that this value is not exceeded.

Filter systems

The pre-filter section consists of a pre-filter and an activated carbon filter. Its primary function is to protect the downstream water softener and reverse osmosis system, which could be damaged by impurities in the water.

Water Softener

The water softener removes the hardness-causing elements calcium and magnesium from the drinking water and replaces them with sodium. This is based on an ion-exchange process that reliably prevents the reverse osmosis membranes from becoming blocked.

Reverse Osmosis

Reverse osmosis reverses the natural osmotic process: The softened water is forced under pressure through a membrane that allows only water molecules and very small molecules to pass through. Larger particles such as salts, bacteria, viruses and other impurities are retained. The reverse osmosis system installed achieves a retention rate of around 98 per cent, based on all dissolved substances in the water.

Permeate tank

The cylindrical tank used offers advantages in terms of stability, ease of cleaning and space requirements. Its uniform shape ensures efficient treatment and storage of the water. The optimised tank geometry prevents the build-up of microbiological contamination and thus meets the high standards for media purity to a particularly high degree.

Pressure-boosting station

The pressure-boosting station supplies the connected consumers with the necessary operating pressure and flow rate. This ensures an optimised and demand-driven supply of media.

Two-stage mixed-bed filter

The two-stage mixed-bed filter, connected in series, acts as a polisher. The resin in the cartridges is formulated to reliably remove all dissolved substances still present in the water. It is particularly effective against silicates, which have a particularly adverse effect on the processing of medical devices. At the same time, the mixed-bed forms the first stage of the recirculation process when the optionally available buffer tank system is used.

Aqua-Stop (solenoid valve shut-off) – Option

The Aqua-Stop is a safety device in water supply systems that stops or limits the flow of water in the event of a fault or leak.

It is positioned as the first component directly behind the system’s main water connection. The associated solenoid valve operates using two sensors: one is located in the cabinet’s base tray, whilst the second is situated outside, at the same level as the tank and the pressure-boosting station.

The integrated drip tray detects leaks and, as a safety feature, forms an integral part of the cabinet systems in combination with the Aqua-Stop.

UV system for water disinfection – optional

Water disinfection using UV irradiation has advanced significantly in recent years because it is both simple and efficient. The UV-C rays generated are considerably more intense than sunlight and are used to disinfect the water in order to prevent bacterial contamination. Legionella, microbes, bacteria, viruses and protozoa can be removed in an environmentally friendly manner.

Pyrogen filter – optional

The pyrogen filter is a specialised type of filter used in water treatment to remove pyrogens from the water. Pyrogens can trigger an immunological reaction in the body, in particular a rise in body temperature. These are usually endotoxins released by bacteria such as Escherichia coli (E. coli).

Wastewater discharge via brine lifting system – option

As an option, the treatment plant can be expanded to include an integrated wastewater lifting system, which conveys the generated and collected wastewater into the sewerage system. The main wastewater flow streams are the regeneration wastewater from the water softener and the concentrate from the reverse osmosis system.

NeoTecMaster® 5-inch with housing – Option

Data acquisition, visualisation and processing are central aspects of modern water treatment. A fundamental component of this is the networking of a wide variety of measurement systems and their integration into process automation. The NeoTecMaster® – a manufacturer-independent multi-parameter system – was developed precisely for this purpose.
